Seachtain na Gaeilge Mí Marta atá ann. Táimíd ag ceiliúradh Seachtain na Gaeilge. We are flying the Irish flag and we have lots of lessons and activities planned to celebrate our pride in Irish culture and language. We will be wearing green to celebrate the Ard Rí Shamrock Festival on Thursday 16th of March. You will receive a €2 Way2Pay for this event- all money raised will go the Parent Association Fund. Extra Mile Award Ewa and Anna are the cleaning team at Ard Rí CNS. Ewa has worked at Ard Rí for 10 years now. In that time she has never missed a single day. Ewa worked very hard during Covid and always keeps the school spotlessly clean. She is very proud of her work and always has a smile and kind word for everyone she meets. Ewa has had her hard work and dedication at Ard Rí CNS recognised by her company. She has received this month’s ‘Extra Mile Award’. Hip, hip, hooray! LMETB Robert Ballagh Art Competition Every year LMETB host an art competition judged by Irish artist Robert Ballagh. We are delighted that three of our pupils won the top prizes in the Primary School category this year. Below, you will see the winning works of art and our artists with their fantastic prizes. Ard Rí Blog (ed. 2)

It has been another busy week here at Ard Rí. The school is buzzin’! Here are some of the highlights from the first week in March ’23. Happy Martisor everyone! Every March our families from Moldova and Romania celebrate Martisor. Each year, on the first day of March, teachers are gifted a beautiful pin with red and white woolen flowers. The pin is worn to welcome the coming of Spring. We really enjoy when families from all around the world include us in their cultural traditions. FAI Spar 5-a-side Blitz Ard Rí CNS were well represented by two teams at the FAI 5-a-side soccer blitz in the MDL. Spirits were so high nobody even noticed the cold and wet conditions. Both teams played very well. One team finished top of their group and made it through to the quarter final stage but came up against some formidable opposition. Well done to all the players and coaches involved. The boys showed great respect and care throughout the day and we are very proud of them all. Be Kind Online! We were delighted to welcome Navan Community Garda Sabrina to talk to the children about staying safe online. This month teachers have been teaching cyber safety lessons. Children now have more access to the internet than ever before. Unfortunately, not all children’s online experiences are positive. Every class now has an online contract with guidelines of how to be safe and make the most of their time online. Garda Sabrina’s advice for parents is simple: “The most effective way to support your child online is to have regular open conversations with...

Ard Rí Blog (ed.1)

Hi all, I have fallen out of love with Twitter over the past few months. However, I really want to share with the community some of the fantastic work and fun we are having at our beautiful little school. We will share some of this magic with you here on the website blog. Student Council This week we celebrated World Social Justice Day with the election of our Student Council. Elections were held in the school hall by secret ballot. Everyone learned lots about the election process. One boy and one girl were elected from every class. We really value pupil voice at our school and we look forward to working with the Council on issues that matter most to our pupils. School Library We are working hard to introduce more diversity into our school libraries. If you have old children’s books in different languages or books with stories or themes which represent minority groups or people with disability etc. we would be delighted to give them a new home. Thank you. Jimmy and Beau Everyone enjoyed the visit from pet lambs Jimmy and Beau. Children got a little cuddle and a chance to bottle feed them. It is a real sign of Spring to see lambs in the fields. There’s a grand stretch in the evenings, our lovely daffodils are growing and there are buds showing on the trees. What other signs of spring do you see? All you need is love… We had great fun celebrating Valentines Day last week and love was in the air with beautiful art pieces, cards and acts of kindness. Pancake Tuesday...

Rang a 6- Newsfeed

May 2023 It is hard to believe our 6th Class pupils are in the final term of primary school. We are so proud of them, and all they have achieved here with us at Ard Rí Community NS. In order to support the children in their transition to post-primary school our Board of Management have organised a workshop for the pupils with a local group called Wolf Academy. Cormac and Daryl Noonan and their team of coaches provide a range of workshops to inspire and empower young people. The workshop will take place on Wednesday 31st May. The objective for their Primary School workshop is for pupils to reflect and understand themselves more. Through various exercises the children will tune into what they like about themselves, compliment themselves on what they are good at, their positive personality traits and nice things they’ve done. They will explore and reconnect with their senses and learn to be more present in the moment, mindful and calm. There will be discussions about emotions and how different situations make us feel and there will be games to exercise a sense of gratitude and other positive emotions. We hope this will be a very positive experience for our pupils and we are looking forward to working with Wolf Academy to support the development of our 6th Class children on an annual basis as they prepare for the next stage in their education. Best wishes, Cailín, Claire & Darragh January 2023 Dear parents and guardians of 6th Class pupils, Children starting Post Primary school in September will have their Assessment Tests on different Saturdays from the end...

Christmas 2022

Dear Ard Rí Community, It has been a busy few months. Thanks for your support during Term 1. On behalf of all the team at Ard Rí CNS thank you for the very generous and thoughtful Christmas gifts and meal voucher. We had a lovely night out in the China Garden. School life is always so busy it was great to just chill out and catch up. We have had super Christmassy fun for the past few weeks. Rang 5&6 kept us entertained with their beautiful Christmas play, ‘The Dog with a Limp’. The play was independently written, directed, designed and cast by the children themselves. We rate it 5 stars…bravo! There were poems, songs and shorts performed by other classes. We even had a visit from Santa this week. Pictures of these events can be found on our Twitter. Well done all on spreading Christmas cheer. Our Christmas Cake Sale raised €631.40. Thank you to our Parent Association, our bakers and our volunteers on the day. These funds will go straight into our June Family Fun Day event. Well done. We were delighted to host our Winter Show in the Ardboyne Hotel this year. The children from Ranganna Niamh, Laura, Ailis, Angela, Rachel and Wilma put on the greatest show. To help ensure we never forget those precious moments, our friends Victor and Luana recorded the performance and they are available below for your enjoyment. There is so much sadness and stress in the world. I hope you can all take some time to press reset and spend quality time together. We look forward to welcoming you all...

Nahyan’s Christmas Party

08/12/2022 We are delighted Nahyan is out of hospital. He is really looking forward to his Christmas Party. We have spoken to Linda in Huckleberry’s Den and bus driver James and we are all sorted to play, play, play tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is non-uniform day for Ranganna Ailis and Angela, Senior Infants. Again, Linda has ever-so-kindly given us the use of the Den, free of charge. Parents, please pop in to Huckleberry’s over the Christmas holidays for a play and give this very generous local business a plug on social media. Thank you Linda. Let us never forget how precious life is. We wish Nahyan and all his family a very special Christmas from all your friends at Ard Rí CNS. 02/12/2022 Nahyan is the bravest little warrior at Ard Rí. He has been battling cancer for so long now. Unfortunately in recent times Nahyan has been feeling unwell again. Nahyan had a scan a few weeks ago and sadly the news was not so good. Nahyan loves coming to school and spending time with all his friends. We have organised a little trip to our local playcenter, Huckleberry’s Den for Nahyan and all the boys and girls in Senior Infants on Wednesday 7th of December. Linda at Huckleberry’s Den is a friend of Ard Rí CNS. She has ever-so-kindly given us the use of the Den, free of charge. Parents, please pop in to Huckleberry’s over the Christmas holidays for a play and to support this very generous local business. Thank you Linda. LMETB and Ard Rí CNS will cover the cost of the bus. Wednesday will be...

Smashing Pumpkins Festival 2022

From very humble beginnings our, now annual, Family Pumpkin Carving Competition has grown and grown into an extravaganza of imagination and creativity. With no homework yesterday evening, to allow time to prepare, there was a steady stream of Ard Rí families in search of the perfect pumpkin at SuperValu. Every year mums and dads swear not to leave the project until the night before…maybe next year they will be more organised…maybe not! Some families have been researching and planning the project for weeks others are more spontaneous in their design, they work best under pressure. Many families worked late into the night! From early morning the fruits of their labor began streaming in the gates. Some chose the traditional carving route while others add paint, props, lights and all the extras. Some designs are horrifying while others have the cute factor. Pokemon and Minions were very popular this bumper year. Ghosts, spiders, buzzy bees, Star Wars, witches, cats, werewolves, popcorn, skeletons, Minecraft, bats and ninjas the lists of themes and categories is endless. 145 pumpkins in all! A huge thank you to everyone for taking part. The children get such pride and fun from their fabulous creations. Well done to everyone and all the team at Ard Rí CNS wish you a safe and fun...

Strictly Come Dancing @Ard Rí CNS

It all got a little bit crazy today as a bad case of ballroom fever spread rapidly through the population of Ard Rí CNS. The school staff and some boys and girls put on our very own production of Strictly Come Dancing. It all started off as a bit of a joke a few weeks ago but the crew really embraced it and rehearsed hard to put on a show we will never forget. There was definitely a Glastonbury vibe to it all as the whole school stood out in the rain to watch their teachers, SNAs, Anna and Ewa perform classics like Ghostbusters, Baby Shark, My Lovely Horse and the one and only Elvis Presley even made an appearance. The show couldn’t have happened without our presenters (especially Jennifer Zamparelli), security staff, producers, judges and adjudicators. They had a tough job and after some performers were disqualified for bribery and match-fixing, Jack and Ewa were declared very worthy winners for their tear-jerking rendition of Leaving on a Jet Plane. Bravo! I would like to give a huge thank you to everyone who took part and especially to our fabulous audience. We had too much fun! After a wee break, Ard Rí CNS are back on Twitter. Follow us @ArdRi_CNS and don’t be too shy to give us lots of Likes or even better an odd Retweet so we can share our story far and wide!! Have a lovely weekend...
