Winter Show; 18.12.2019- Ardboyne Hotel

Full Dress Rehearsal: There will be a full dress rehearsal on Friday 13.12.2019. Base costumes will go home on Thursday and children wear base costumes to school on Friday under their tracksuits and coats. We will not be sending home Santa Costumes, Sequined skirts etc. Parent Association Cake Sale: As per the timetable below there will be a Cake Sale in Navan Rugby Club on the day. Donate whatever you can afford. Contact a member of the Parent Association if you would like to donate some cakes, buns etc. Please pre slice your cakes for ease of serving. To abolish our reliance on single-use-plastic bring your own lunchbox/container to pack your buns and a keep-cup for tea/coffee on the day. I estimate this will easily save 200-300 pieces of single use plastic and polystyrene. If you get a take-away this weekend please wash the plastic containers and send them in to school. We will re-use these for serving also.Winter Show: All children come to school at the normal time on the day in full (or nearly full) costume. We will take the children to the Ardboyne for their performance. There will be plenty of space in the hall this year. Please do not start queueing too early. We do not have access to the room in advance of the show so it will be the children’s first time performing the show on the Ardboyne stage. Some patience may be required!! The Winter Show has a very special atmosphere. I encourage you to put your recording device down, to be present and to enjoy the live performance, to treasure the magic moments. If you do feel you need to...

Tin Whistle (Key of D)

Winter Food Drive 2018

Thank you to everyone in the Ard Rí CNS community who contributed so generously to the Winter Food Drive again this year. This campaign has grown from strength to strength and this year we are delighted to donate to two charities; Navan Meals on Wheels and the Meath Food Bank. We received a lovely note of thanks in the mail today from Rose at Meals on Wheels. Our hampers have gone to some of the 100 elderly and otherwise disadvantaged people from the Navan area who benefit from their daily service. Rose writes, ‘we commend your generosity and your thoughtfulness towards those in our community who are more vulnerable than most.’ Well done everyone. Happy...

Winter Food Drive

Winter Food Drive 2018 Thank you to everyone in the Ard Rí CNS community who contributed so generously to the Winter Food Drive again this year. This campaign has grown from strength to strength and this year we are delighted to donate to two charities; Navan Meals on Wheels and the Meath Food Bank. Our Parent Association organise this event every year and were on hand to divide the food into hampers which will be delivered directly to the charities. We have tried a few different means of donating to charity at Christmas time but the simple giving of food to needy people in our Community is one which children grasp and and can relate to. Community Focus is a cornerstone of the Community National School ethos. Supporting charity is a great way to exercise our ‘Attitude of...

Cheerios Childline Breakfast- November 2018

Wednesday 14th of November 2018 will live long in the memories of the Ard Rí Community. Most people like their Cheerios in a bowl but we had our breakfast in a blackout! Our Parent Association organised this event to raise funds for this very worthy charity. Childline run a Freefone line for children up to the age of 18 to call and have a chat when they need someone to talk to. We were just pouring in the milk when the whole school went dark. The spirit and determination of the Ard Rí staff and parents present shone through as we just kept going! Children had great fun looking at teachers running around with torches and they wondered what all the fuss and stress was about. We received over €368 which we are delighted to donate to Childline. Well done to everyone involved!!     ...

Halloween 2018

This is the Fifth Annual Pumpkin Festival at Ard Rí. Every year each family enters a pumpkin. This is a family project and parents and children are encouraged to work together in planning their entry, purchasing the pumpkin and material required, constructing the piece and finally submitting their entry on the morning of the festival. This all started five years ago with only one class entering and this year we had over 100 entries “A clear focus on community building is a corner-stone of school life at Community National Schools. The Pumpkin Festival is just one community event we run at the school. It is great to see families coming together on a creative project. Some of these have been months in the making. It’s not only for the children. On the day of the festival, parents are chatting together, they’re getting to know one another and this binds the community. The buzz is unreal.” Darragh Roe- Principal This Year’s...

Hedgehog Rescue Dublin

This January were were delighted to welcome Yvonne from Hedgehog Rescue Dublin to Ard Rí Community National School. Yvonne is an experienced zoologist and lots of the boys and girls recognised her from RTE The Zoo. Yvonne brought with her two rescue hedgehogs called Maureen and Simon. We learned all about hedgehogs in the wild and how we can help to conserve them and their habitat. Yvonne told us all about the great work she and her colleagues do at the Rescue Centre. We were delighted to make a donation of €266 to help the centre in continuing to provide support for this vulnerable native...
