Rest in Peace Nahyan

Good morning everyone,

I am writing because I have a little bit of sad news to tell you all. Our little friend Nahyan, from Senior Infants, died over the weekend. Nahyan was sick for a long time. He had a very rare disease in his brain. Nobody knows why Nahyan had this disease. When he was a little boy Nahyan’s mum Raviha, called him Warrior because he was a brave fighter. He fought the disease with all his strength.

Whenever Nahyan was feeling strong he would come to school. Nahyan’s dad Naveed greatly appreciated the fundraising for treatment carried out by the school, the Bravery Award Nahyan received and Nahyan’s birthday celebrations in Huckleberry’s Den. He told us Nahyan loved the school and his teachers but most of all Nahyan loved the warm welcome he received every morning from the children in his class. He minded all the cards and gifts he received from his school friends. They were very special to him. He always wore the coolest clothes and hats and everyone loved to see him coming and to spend time with him.

Nahyan’s family are Muslim. They have very strong faith and Nahyan had been on pilgrimage to the Holy City of Mecca twice in his life. Nahyan’s family prayed with him every day and they believe he has gone straight to heaven. The Ard Ri Community have been invited to attend Nahyan’s funeral. Nahyan will repose at the Mosque in Clonskeagh from 12midday. Any pupils who attend can gather (in full uniform) at the Mosque at 1pm and we will perform a Guard of Honor as Nahyan leaves the Mosque to be brought to the Muslim Cemetry in Newcastle for burial. If you have any questions email: [email protected]. School staff will represent the school community at the funeral and the burial. We will hold a ceremony to celebrate Nahyan’s life at the school in September. It might be a nice idea to light a candle for the family on Tuesday, to remind you of our little friend.

Nahyan’s family are taking great strength from all the community support. We have created a form for families to leave a message of sympathy, love, remembrance and support for the Khan family. We will compile these and share them with the family or if children want to make a card or draw a picture we will make sure they are delivered to the family also.

We all get sad when we say goodbye to someone we love. Always try to remember all the happy times you shared together.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ)😞. Nahyan would lead his parents to Jannha Insha Allah.

We are truly saddened at the passing of our friend Nahyan. He will be sadly missed. His happy smile was infectious. Zoe was so privileged that he was well enough to share her birthday with her in December. We have fond memories of that day and the one in huckleberrys. He is a huge loss to the class and the world! We will forever hold Nahyan in our hearts and Zoe said the class will be sad without him. Thinking of you Raviha, Naveed and Azlan. Our hearts are broken for you all and we are sending all our love, thoughts and strength to you. X
