Data Protection and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is in force as of 25th May 2018, replacing the existing data protection framework under the EU Data Protection Directive.
The Data Protection Acts grant privacy rights to individuals whose personal information is in the possession or control of Louth Meath ETB. These Acts also impose obligations on Louth Meath ETB regarding how this data is processed and stored.
In the course of its business, Louth Meath ETB processes personal information relating to individuals such as staff, students, parents, etc.
As a result, Louth Meath ETB has extensive responsibilities regarding the safeguarding of this information and providing access to it, on request, by the persons to whom it relates.
To ensure compliance with these obligations, the following policies have been developed and implemented throughout the organisation:

The Rights of a Data Subject under Data Protection Legislation
A Data Subject (the person to whom the personal or special category relates) has the following rights under Data Protection Legislation which can be exercised at any time:
- Right of access
- Right to Rectification
- Right to be forgotten
- Right to restrict processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to object and to object to automated decision making /profiling
- Right to complain to the Supervisory Authority

Making a Data Access Request
In order to protect the data requested, and so LMETB can satisfy itself of the identity of the requester, the data access request is required to be accompanied by one of following identity verification methods:
- a copy of State Identification (Passport or Drivers Licence) officially verified with the station stamp and signature of a member of An Garda Síochána. or
- The requestor can present themselves with their identification to the Administration Offices in Abbey Road, Navan or Chapel Street, Dundalk or
- The requestor can include a declaration from a Commissioner of Oaths verifying their identity.

Upon receipt of all relevant documentation, LMETB will process the Data Access Request within 30 calendar days.
