New Entrants- September 2020

24.08.2020

Dear Parents of incoming Junior Infants,

There are only 2 more sleeps until your child’s first day at big school. I am sure your emotions are a strong mixture of excitement and nerves.

If there is anything you cannot get sorted before Wednesday please do not worry. We will be keeping very calm and relaxed about the whole thing. It is only 2 hours each day so the time will fly by and our teachers will do everything they can to make your child’s first day as positive as possible. Children should bring a tiny snack and a drink of water for their first day.

We are working hard to make the school as safe as we can. In previous years we had lots of induction activities to prepare the children for school life. This year our overarching goal is to open and to stay open. Unfortunately coming together to celebrate this big occasion is not possible this year.

We will stagger opening on Wednesday. As per the time you received along with this message; at 9.45 we will welcome half of Rang Tara, at 10.00 we will welcome Rang Karen and at 10.15 we will welcome the rest of Rang Tara. Please park in the car park and walk up to the school. There will be lots of school staff on hand to direct you. We will accept the children into the school from the blue doors. Children only past the blue doors. Teachers will wear mask and visor until they are in the teacher zone in their classrooms.

Two teachers have been assigned as official photographers for this big event. They will take photographs to create a slideshow of what the children get up to on the day. We will share this video with you. If you do not wish for your child to feature in the video please email the school: [email protected]

Múinteoir Karen and Múinteoir Tara have left a short message for the boys and girls below.

We look forward to seeing you all. Welcome to the Ard Rí Community.

Dear Parents of Incoming Junior Infants,

This year life has been very different for everyone at Ard Rí. We cannot hold any of our usual induction activities. We are embracing lots of different ways to both teach and communicate with our community remotely. As we cannot hold our usual meeting for new parents this time of year we have created this video to bring you through the main points of what you need to know for starting school with us in September. I hope you find it helpful.

I hope everybody is safe and well.

Over the past few years we developed a program of orientation activities for in-coming pupils at Ard Rí CNS. We always looked forward to welcoming our new pupils to visit the working school in June, we held a one week summer camp in July and we brought the new pupils to school a day early in September so the school would be nice and calm and we have lots of teachers available to support the children and parents. Unfortunately due to COVID 19 restrictions we are unable to reach out to you as we would have before. At this point we are even unsure what reopening in September will look like. We will communicate our plans with you. We are fully aware that starting school is a very special milestone. We will do everything we can to make sure your child’s first day at big school is a memorable and positive experience.

At the moment the school office is closed. You can still contact us be emailing: [email protected]

There are still some Junior Infant places available at Ard Rí Community NS for September 2020. If you have a friend looking for a school place please recommend us.
